What is the word for a person who does different jobs?



I'm asking about someone who's employed by a company and does different jobs (both a qualified and unqualified person). Who knows; maybe in English those two are two different words? What are they called in English?


All I know is a navvy but that usually means physical work.


Let me just try a few things here. These are just wild guesses, nothing more.

First floor vs ground floor, usage origin

Ground floor – First floor: In British English, the floor of a building which is level with the ground is called the ground floor. The floor above it is called the first floor, the floor above that is the second floor, and so on. To my ear, the first sounds great, and the second is painfully awkward. So which is correct, grammatically? My grandmother, who grew up in western Pennsylvania, pronounced wash and Washington with an intrusive R : “warsh” and “Warshington.” Where does the intrusive R come from in that dialect?
