single word requests - What do you call it when you ask a question but you actually know the answer?



And you may not really expect an answer or want/need an answer. Not quite rhetorical. For example you may be talking about something that happened and wondering who did it and everyone knows who did it including yourself but you ask, 'I wonder who that was.'

First floor vs ground floor, usage origin

Ground floor – First floor: In British English, the floor of a building which is level with the ground is called the ground floor. The floor above it is called the first floor, the floor above that is the second floor, and so on. In American English, the floor which is level with the ground is called the first floor, the floor above it is the second floor, and so on. To my ear, the first sounds great, and the second is painfully awkward. So which is correct, grammatically?
