grammar - Future prediction



It has been snowing since morning and I am afraid it won't have stopped by Friday.



Is it correct and if not, why? Can we use future perfect tense for that kind of sentences?

As an example, consider the two sentences: There don't seem to be any doctors here. and There doesn't seem to be any doctors here. To my ear, the first sounds great, and the second is painfully awkward. So which is correct, grammatically?
