syntax - What I've done is [past participle or bare infinitive]



What I've done is plant an idea in your head.


What I've done is chosen the products of several investment companies with proven track records.



I was wondering why the bare infinitive sounds right in the first, but the past participle sounds right in the second.

First floor vs ground floor, usage origin

Ground floor – First floor: In British English, the floor of a building which is level with the ground is called the ground floor. The floor above it is called the first floor, the floor above that is the second floor, and so on. In American English, the floor which is level with the ground is called the first floor, the floor above it is the second floor, and so on. To my ear, the first sounds great, and the second is painfully awkward. So which is correct, grammatically?
