Non-religious word for "blessed"


I want to say on social media that I am blessed to have my daughter, but I am not religious and find it awkward when people respond saying that they are sending prayers my way. I appreciate the sentiment, but I'd still like a non-religious word that holds a similar connotation.

From a religious point of view, being blessed has two parts. The first part is to have been endowed with divine favor. The second part is to be joyful for having received the blessing.


No doubt that as a new father you feel any one of these, from the second part: overjoyed, jubilant, exultant, elated, gleeful, delighted, or wonderful. None of these attributes your feeling to any outside influence. With these words, a thesaurus can be used to give you additional ideas.

etymology - Why "silver-tongued" for someone who is convincing?

I understand that "silver-tongued" or "silver-tongued devil" means to be a good orator, or: able to speak in a way that makes other people do or believe what you want them to do or believe Merriam Webster My question is: why silver ? This question on quora goes into detail about where & when the phrase appears to originate from. But why would silver be chosen as the adjective to describe someone's tongue? I'm making the assumption that it means the valuable metal silver and not simply the color, but would gold not have been more apt, as it is worth more? Or why not jewel encrusted tongue? To my ear, the first sounds great, and the second is painfully awkward. So which is correct, grammatically? While reading a recent Ken Follet novel, I came across the following, spoken in a gay bar set in early sixties London: "I am queer as a clockwork orange, a three-pound note, a purple unicorn, or a football bat." Previous to this, I had thought that "clockwork orange" was a phrase made up by Anthony Burgess to describe something that is impossible as a title for his 1962 novel.
