meaning - What is the correct casing when there are brackets involved?


Just writing my own definition for some words in my spare time.


I have come across definitions such as:

I just put an extremely simple definition there. But what I am worrying about is the casing. Which of the following would be correct?

First floor vs ground floor, usage origin

Ground floor – First floor: In British English, the floor of a building which is level with the ground is called the ground floor. The floor above it is called the first floor, the floor above that is the second floor, and so on. In American English, the floor which is level with the ground is called the first floor, the floor above it is the second floor, and so on. To my ear, the first sounds great, and the second is painfully awkward. So which is correct, grammatically?
