Relative adverbs


I am having some trouble understanding why relative adverbs function as adverbs in a relative clause.


My family worships in a church, where my parents married.


In the above example, I understand "where my parents married functions as an adjective clause, but cannot comprehend how where modifies the verb married.

usage - "there doesn't seem" vs. "there don't seem"

As an example, consider the two sentences: There don't seem to be any doctors here. and There doesn't seem to be any doctors here. To my ear, the first sounds great, and the second is painfully awkward. So which is correct, grammatically? First floor vs ground floor, usage origin

Ground floor – First floor: In British English, the floor of a building which is level with the ground is called the ground floor. The floor above it is called the first floor, the floor above that is the second floor, and so on.
