word choice - Proper use of 'there' and 'here' in phrase



I am thanking someone in type by saying :



"John and Mary for being there even when you aren't near."



Would it be better or worse to use 'here' :



"John and Mary for being here even when you aren't near."

Ground floor – First floor: In British English, the floor of a building which is level with the ground is called the ground floor. The floor above it is called the first floor, the floor above that is the second floor, and so on.
